I am honored and thankful on a daily basis for the role my patients allow me to play in helping to bring health and healing into their lives. I hold a Medical Doctorate from the University of South Florida College of Medicine and am a board-certified family practice physician. I have additional training in integrative and functional medicine, nutritional medicine and midwifery practices. In addition to my training in Western medicine, I listen deeply to my patients' stories to gain a complete understanding of what might be happening physically, emotionally, spiritually and biochemically with them. By combining an extensive review of medical history, conventional testing, cutting-edge integrative diagnostic tests and careful listening, clear issues and patterns emerge. I then work with my patients to formulate an individualized plan for strengthening and supporting their systems and addressing specific medical conditions. Care plans may include nutritional recommendations, lifestyle choices, alternative therapy modalities, counseling, supplements, herbs, and medications when needed. I work as a partner in helping patients reach the goals they set in achieving their potential for wellness.
My interest in integrative and holistic medicine stems from my innate trust that our bodies generally have an amazing ability to heal themselves if they are given the support they need. More importantly, we can lead healthier, longer, happier lives if we are able to optimize our wellness and prevent diseases from emerging.
My application of holistic care for adults and families also holds true in my practice of maternity and pediatric care. I have a strong passion and love for caring for new and expectant Moms and families. Grounded in a strong training in obstetrics and confident to manage many pregnancy complications, I care for families in a personalized way, normalizing pregnancy and birth and minimizing interventions except when necessary. I take time to get to know a Mom through her pregnancy by understanding her values and reflecting back her strength, autonomy and confidence in order to prepare her for all circumstances that arise in pregnancy and birth. I love continuing to care for the beautiful children I see come into the world. A true gift of family medicine is to care for a woman through her pregnancy and continue to care for her children and family as they grow.
I am a mother of two wonderful young children myself. I love spending time with my kids, surrounded by the beauty of this region, enjoying nature, the arts, and everything the area offers. |
